Host Introduction

Andreas Tegnander

Andreas Tegnander is a Norwegian media artist working with site-specific sound installations. He explores how sound and space can create new forms of meaning and perception. These new spaces create situations and encounters with more than human perspectives defined by movement and resonance, where one is invited to study a reaction, a memory, or an imprint of another world. His practice unfolds at the intersection of sound, architecture, philosophy, poetry, and experimental inquiry.

Workshop Overview

The Hands See what The Eyes Touch

Exploring how sensory worlds overlap, and how installation art can use this overlap to create spaces that are understood on multiple sensory levels. The session introduces Andreas’ working methods for translating between the senses in his installation practice, and introduces his thinking.

Each participant will choose a concept, a signal, something out of our everyday perspectives or reach, and we will individually and together think and conceptualise a space or tool that uses the participants practice in order to translate it.

By sharing Andreas’s methodology and perspectives, this workshop aims to create a new set of tools for thinking about what it means to translate between the senses, opening up for the posibility to access crossensoral and more than human perspectives.
